'For this video, I decided to answer a question coming sent in by a lot of you guys and that is\"What to do when friends and family don\'t support your fitness goals?\" Subscribe here https://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=shockingfit Online Coaching now available: https://www.tomic.com/contact/ Summary: Significant changes need time. You might be doing everything right regarding exercise, diet, and lifestyle but it\'s only until a few months pass that people will notice. And during all this time your thoughts, actions, and mindset have changed, but the body might not reflect that yet. You\'re in a transition phase where other people still see your old identity, and they can sense you\'re doing something they don\'t expect. It\'s a phase we all had to go through. Generally, when it comes to change in any area of your life people see only the end result. This is also called the ice-berg illusion. No one can see what\'s going on in your mind, the daily battles, struggled, working hard, pushing yourself, doing the right thing when no one is watching. That is all on you, and you have to accept that. A lot of us start off, and we do get some validation and support initially. Sometimes that support comes from people thinking \"Oh, that\'s cute, he\'s gonna try that fitness thing and give up. I also gave up.\" and they don\'t actually believe you will succeed. But when you persist and show that it can be done that shows them an example of someone who cultivated a growth mindset. And by demonstrating that it\'s possible to change through hard work that is now challenging the fixed mindset a lot of people have. More in on this in the book Mindset by Carol Dweck. It\'s on us to understand and learn what is happening and to refrain from judging other people. If you do end up in a situation where people are judging, you try to find common ground and be the one with higher emotional and social intelligence. Once you go through the transition phase, most people will simply accept the \"New\" you. Some never will, and that\'s totally okay. They probably don\'t need to be in your life anyway.
